ej20 rebuild...hints/tips appreciated

Hi all, so its time to pull out the old ej20.
problems are slight piston slap on cold start, slight what sounds like main bearing noise at 3500rpm, leaky camshaft seal & now clutch slip on boost.
Ive built a few other engine's in my time & been in the motor trade (bodyshop)nearly(er blimey) 30 years:oldman:so i am assuming this job isn,t beyond me.
Any advice or info regarding the build/parts or suppliers would be greatly appreciated & i would be willing to exchange dent removal or bodywork :polish: for parts or hands on help or machining.
Obviously i want to keep the cost down :wife:so im not going to go silly spec but do want a strong enough engine to cope with any future power upgrades.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY REPLIES

C.j. Is your man for this really, I'd say go for genuine Subaru block gaskets etc. and use Cosworth HGs you might want to consider a 2.1 stroker kit which can be had for around 1.5k if you can stretch to it.

Thanks for the great advice! not sure i want to spend that much yet as it might require some serious softening up of the:wife: which will blow my budget.

ah, I recognise your car In hailsham:welcome:

Get yourself a good bottom end and gasket set and do yourself......or get CJ to do it. He can swap all that in two days I think:ok:

If it is a CDB it would be a crime not to go for a 2.1 stroker as apart from the 2.2 CDBs it's the best block you can have.
