lazy clutch pedal
 

After replacing my clutch everything worked fine. I was really happy. Until last night, my clutch pedal is fully returning? It engages fully (I think, no slipping) but the pedal only comes back up about an inch.

Has anyone ever experienced that happen? And how can I fix it?

There should be a return spring on top of the engine, between the clutch fork and a hook on the block. Chances are its gone AWOL

or the pedal needs adjusting.

had it on my last scoob. under hard accelleration, te pedal would even go down a little and I had to hook my foot under it to pull it back up

looking under your dash just above the clutch pedal -

pedal hight first - you'll see that there is an adjustable stop for the pedal hight - lift the pedal and it touches it.
2 14mm spanners for this job - adjust the stop so that the pedal is at the same hight as the brake pedal. do this before you adjust the rod..........

.........above the clutch pedal you'll see a rod that goes off to the engine bay. it has a small 12mm nut locking it onto a metal part fixed to the pedal. crack off the nut and turn the rod anti clockwise (as your looking at it -) test the biting point before tightening the nut.

if you find that the pedal still feels no better, or your getting judder - then it's more than likly a new clutch thats required.

I found that my old classic and a few others had a good 2" slack on the cluch pedel before the cable pulled, a few turns on the spring sorted that out if any help to anyone
