o my god i hate this impreza it still wont start !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its got spark seems to have fuel (smells ) ive put a new maf, crank and cam sensor ,plugs leads coilpack fuel filter and ive even tryed the ecu.
and before you ask yes ive had someone come 3 TIMES and still no joy the only code its coming up with is fuel system or pump (error 53) but the relay is working and the pump seems to be working not tryed the pressure yet . and now the car is stuck on my front grass looking sad .

It sounds like the pump? Have you got aa or rac recovery to get it to Brent's tomorrow? Or give cj a pm if he is free?

Mortster 07-04-2013 03:30 PM

Checked the cambelt hasnt slipped a few teeth or snapped??

Steve_PPP 07-04-2013 03:40 PM

I had a spare working fuel pump off my bugeye which I gave to harvey and it didn't make any difference i think...

Sti mayhew 07-04-2013 04:02 PM

He said it didn't fit

Steve_PPP 07-04-2013 04:11 PM

Oh, didn't think they were different in the classics. Unless the one out of my bugeye wasn't the original...

Sti mayhew 07-04-2013 04:53 PM

Think he needs to check belt and get a fuel pump next, anyone got a fuel pump for sale for a 98 uk classic?

bonner 07-04-2013 05:00 PM

newage pump should fit classic? my pump i recently changed came off russes type r

Scooby O'Neill 07-04-2013 06:29 PM

I thought classic fuel pump is better than a standard bugeye or blob eye but I'm proberly wrong. Another idea is ur alarm cutting the problem for it to start maybe if u got 1.

C. J. 07-04-2013 06:32 PM

Pump can be made to fit either way .
Can you hear the pump priming ?
If not the immobiliser is f'd .
If your not sure take the seats out to hear

harvey05 07-04-2013 07:51 PM

hi all the belt has been checked and is all fine . can hear the pump but ive not checked the pressure . the alarm is fine what ever it is slowly got worse i.e missing and holding back like it was a coilpack and the it died on the drive and hasent started since

Scooby O'Neill 07-04-2013 07:54 PM

I take it none of the fuses have blown might be worth a look

harvey05 07-04-2013 10:56 PM

the code it comes up with is 53 and that says fuel pump or wireing i was thinking relay but it seems to click

Scooby O'Neill 07-04-2013 11:13 PM

Would it be worth taking pipe of at the fuel filter and catch it in a tub thats in engine bay and see if the fuel comes threw as u turn ignition then u know if pump is working just a thought. That's what I would try or that won't work. Women had it that problem the other week while I was filling up in a shell garage she filled her focus and paid she came out and tried to leave it turned over but would not start so I asked if she put the right fuel in as first thing I asked she said yes so popped the bonnet up and listened while she turned over at the end fuel pump fuse blew so change it start but advise her to get it checked cos it was not her first time it done it

harvey05 07-04-2013 11:27 PM

tryed that mate lots come out but dont no if its got the pressure it needs so will try that next

Scooby O'Neill 07-04-2013 11:30 PM

It's got to be doing ur head in I know it would me lol
