Rear arch repair

Went to see my mate garry at his workshop a little while ago and he quoted 180 quid to remove all the rust .welded a plate from the offending part that is missing from the quarter panel , undercoat and re-spray arch , I think that is a good price what do you all think .

Bloody good price, will be interested to see what sort of job he makes of it as both of mine need doing. I was quoted £400 a side, to cut out and re build both arches and fully respray both rear quarters.

Anger 02-04-2013 04:18 PM

£800 for both sounds about right to me

Very good price if its good. He would probably blend into the paint left untouched in the rear quarters then clear coat the whole rear quarters. Post up results before and after once done.

riiidaa 02-04-2013 06:41 PM

yup, before and after pics always good, sounds like a great price

chrisp 02-04-2013 06:58 PM

Group buy!!!!!!!!

bonner 02-04-2013 09:59 PM

be carfull with that price buddy! you could end up fallin out with your matey lol!! cheap isnt always a good idea which iv just found out myself!! i paid 125 to have my bootlid put right and sprayed along with skirts and scoop!! went back 3 times and still not right! i paid 60 for a fog surround to be painted and is a pukka job!! same company qouted 450 500 to get a crease out of my door and recommended it would need painting plus blown into the other pannels to match,

chrisp 02-04-2013 11:28 PM

Interested to see how it goes, mine has one tiny spot on each that I noticed when polishing recently so want to get it done now before it starts to get worse

Well looking at the cars he does and how he does his work looks good enough for me . When working on one car the rest of the cars that he has in his workshop are covered with clear protective covers and he also came highly recommended from martin who as we speak is working on my car in his garage so its good to know honest people with good prices and don't rip people off .

Might be worth asking Canada Coachworks, did an amazing job on my little knock a few weeks back and they do a discount for SurreyScooby members.

Going back in a few weeks to get some more bits done.

Here is a wee pic of the rear arch that needs fixing
