Car SOS

Anyone watch last weeks? It's on Thursdays 8pm National Geographic chanel. Just watched it, was very good. Found it interesting and it's amazing what can be done if you've got the know how.....money and contacts! There's a cossie on one episode but it's not this weeks. Worth a look if you're interested in car restoration.

Mine too, but I hadn't realised that if I had held onto it, it would have fallen to pieces

My first favourite car and still is one of them. Used to go to the Formula 3000 event at Brands Hatch and watch Andy Rouse in the BTCC race in one. Favourite car, favourite driver. Definitely in the lotto win garage!

I was a big Rouse fan too. First saw him race when I was 11 or so and he was racing a jalopy (sorry, grasstrack special) in the fields of Gloucestershire. I knew his brother Paul (we shared my 21st birthday party with a mutual friend). I have a picture of him in his Broadspeed Dolomite Sprint at Brands somewhere (I'll put it up if Keith would like me to) and always rooted for him in BTCC. That's why I got the Cosworth back in 1988 :D

That's brilliant. I'd like to see the pic. I have got some somewhere of one of the events that my uncle, who's a keen amateur phtographer, took. Will have to dig those out if I've still got them. Think my first event was 1991 the second in 92. The second one they took 5 or 6 XR2i's round the track as a demo as they were about to be released. Good memories.... :-)

Well, here's a pic of Rouse in his sprint, but I don't think it's the one I was thinking of, which he posed for for ages as I checked my light meter, adjusted exposure etc. etc.

Looking for this pic I came across some others from the mid 1970s, when I used to go to a wide variety of motorsport events, including@

1975 RAC Rally

(apologies for poor quality)

1975 British Grand Prix - my hero

and the International Trophy, Jarier getting it wrong

Apologies again for the poor quality, but cheap camera and then scanned.....

ScoobyStu 08-03-2013 09:04 AM

That's brilliant. Not bad quality given their age! I'll have to have a rummage for mine soon... Cheers for posting them :-)
