New strut braces

Well here they are in situ. I was not expecting the rear one to make a noticeable difference, but it seems to make the car feel more planted. Over to Granby for his views.

that top mount looks spotless, are you sure you actually drive the thing?

Re: New strut braces

They are Whiteline Cath. The rear one has quick release bolts.

Steve - after every drive I clean out the fins and bend any that are bent back into shape as best I can. It was perfect when I got it from Saj and I can't bear bent fins anymore. It's an age thing.

Think you are right Rich. I believe I was taught by the Squadron Leader to never attempt a mission with bent fins!!!!

Re: New strut braces

Just a thought................. aren't strut braces what you wear when walking along the promenade on a rather clement Sunday afternoon what what!

Thumbs behind braces, fob watch glistening in the south coast dappled sunlight, spiffing dolly on your arm, cream tea and some ginger beer.

Brrrrrrrrrrr rr r rrrrr rrr! Sorry about that, thats the last time I let "chocks" give Mrs Lustington a kiss goodbye, I've obviously caught chockington flu!

Re: New strut braces

I say Old Chap!

I believe a strut brace is a device you can buy on the internet for gentlemen with "problems" in the stiffy department, what!!!

Certainly old "Floppy" Fanthorpe from Squadron Statistics was telling me the other day how it worked wonders!!!

I am sure Mrs Lustington would have a passing interest in such an item!

But, damn it all Old Chap! I am not sure I would take it down to the prom, especially if I was wearing braces in the company of a spiffing dolly. Truly beastly if you ask me! Imagine the effects of a sudden "elastic burst" due to the build up of tension in the trouser area! Goodness gracious! No braces are strong enough to deal with that kind of thing, I'll be bound!

Perhaps it's something for the squadron boffins to look into, what!

Simpleton out......................

Ah yes… Sqn Operating Procedure 64 Zoo Lane...

"No bent fins when attempting missions where said bent fins would hamper mission and produce unusual, undesired or bent results"

Simpleton...

Strut Braces (or Sierra Bravo’s as the boys at ‘MI555 development’ know them) look excellent. IC is also looking rather ‘fly’ too.

As for using a Sierra Bravo in (or on) anything else but a Wagon... it wasn't me, you didn't see me right.

Re: New strut braces

Very nice Keith, the rear strut brace as you say makes a hugh difference, front i didn't feel any difference, so whats next then?

Re: New strut braces

very nice, i fitted my strutbraces over the weekend front and rear and the difference it made was huge :10:

SUBARMAN 13-05-2009 07:50 PM

Re: New strut braces

Thanks Andy and Ian.

I had taken the front one off when the new intercooler went on, and had not really noticed much difference, if any. Certainly the effect of the two together seems significant. I will have to take the back one off so i can assess how much difference it has made. Should have done them one at a time really.

Re: New strut braces

I think the front end has more strengthening in it and less likely to flex anyway. Which is why the rear is always a straight solid bar, as opposed to a shaped bar for the front.

Re: New strut braces

small world; I've just changed mine; went from front carbon sti to a Cusco (from Zen's old Blue TA car  ), no pics though

and now have a three point Cusco rear too...no fitted pics but its all welded in place and I can fit all the old trim including the roller over it :)

No messin' about there then!!!!!

AndyWRX 14-05-2009 05:25 PM

Re: New strut braces

imo i think youd need to have them both off at the same time to feel a massive difference then put them both on, i put my front one on first and took it for a spin, the front felt stiffer but still abit weak, we managed to get the rear on and the difference was amazing it felt like a new car

Re: New strut braces

Thanks Andy. With my quick release bolts I'll have it off in no time, he said!

What about a vynal wrap. protects the lovley colour you got now ,gives you the option to change the colour then go back at a much later date? ;)

Re: gonna respray the car again ???

Agree Audi white is such a nice one.

Go for it Daz. Audi white with red would look the nuts.
