WRX to STi instrument cluster change??
 

Am I right in thinking the instrument cluster from WRX to STi are interchangeable?
I got a v7 STi cluster for my car but when changing it over the speedometer doesn't work, everything else is ok just the speed part...who needs that anyway?! :doh:

were you stationary at the time it wasn't working!? :-P

I would of thought if they were both newage then they would be a straight swap? If so then maybe speedo is faulty if everything else works??

I thought that so changed the old one back, and the Speedo doesn't work on that now!! Checked all the wires and theyre all in ok so im drawing a blank!? Everything looks ok

I'm pretty sure newage imprezas don't have a speedo cable, has your check engine light come on, if so maybe the speed sensor is broken?

If its not working on both clusters now then it must be something in the car?

Dam, was worried thatd be the case, is there anything I might have dislodged or something when changing them over? Its only since I changed them its stopped which sucks!

The speed sensor is plugged into the top side of the gear box, as arse to get too.

The clocks though are a straight forward swap if its a V7 STI set, the later Defi style sets need a big if jiggery pokery with the loom.

You could take the plastic face off, and make sure the speedo needle still moves freely, just flick it gently with a finger, and it should return to zero smoothly.

Dont try and force them about though.

Is it possible I could have dislodged the sensor when disconnecting the clips on the cluster?

Lol, i knew it was all going too smoothly when it was all "done" within 20mins!!

You cant have knocked the sensor, check my project thread. I ripped my clocks to bits, then re-asembled them. Worked fine. I would just you havent just over stretched the loom, ie one of the green plugs. Check each wire is seated in the plug correctly.
