A Little Loving

Thought it was about time I gave some attention to the P1.

The car is going to be treated to a full respray as soon as funds allow , so I thought I should start getting to grips with various bits and bobs.
Decided to start by cleaning and painting the inner arches, then clean shocks, calipars and wheels .

Pleased with the results, *1 down, 3 to go :-)

Crowman 11-03-2012 07:47 PM

Andy it took me 5 hours to make the one corner perfect, sad , but true
So still have the other 3 to do .

Going to take a couple of days off to do the rest .

Looking good Martyn,
Paint the arches out with White Smoothrite, it will look great (done it on my Series 1 years ago) and it's very good protection too.

Mmmm that's a thought , brush or can ?

I'm really thinking about taking strut off, stripping hub off , that way I can paint right up inside the strut turret .

Brush, plenty of cheap ones from the pound shop. Use then chuck don't waste money on cleaning them.

Takes about 2 or 3 coats to get it good enough that it just sponges down. Then just freshen up with another coat every 12-18 month.

This was silver smoothrite on my classic :

A little more time spent on the scoob ,
Another corner sorted out , plus changed drivers glass for a much better condition one .
The original was severely scratched in the usual classic places .

Coming along well mate :)

How old are the shocks on the car, either you've got some magic formula or they're quite new as theres no way i could get my 2 year old KYB shocks to look anything like that good!

Crowman 25-03-2012 09:47 AM

They are just over 2 yrs old mate.
Steve was as anal as me , so they have been well looked after.

Scooby_Greg 25-03-2012 09:11 PM

Looking very good - giving Jay's shocks a run for the money on shineyness :-)
