Am i mad? intercooler MY question

Ok I know my new car is definitely MY99 and have checked the plate which confirms it as a WRX Type RA V-Limited.

But should it have the intercooler it has?

To me that is a MY96-7 intercooler, same as i had in my V3 STI before it went to the parking lot in the sky. Should it have the updated intercooler (V5-6)with the triangular plate with DV, or did the above model come with the older spec intercooler?

Yeah it's wrong

Coil packs correct for a V5

Dave 27-02-2012 03:42 PM

Thanks for quick response.

OK looks like I need to find myself a V5-6 STI intercooler with re-circulating valve as the one installed has already put a steering wheel in my pants (yes, its driving me nuts!).

Should be straight forward as long as I get the correct brackets aswell by the looks of things.

Will check the under bonnet seal to the intercooler when i get a chance to see how that looks.

How comes its an Sti one any how?? Take it is just a wrx...As its not got roof vent??

Scott.T 27-02-2012 04:09 PM

Yep agree is wrong, should have the bolt on DV.
Perhaps it was swapped to fit the HKS DV

Correct no DCCD or roof vent, has mod cons like AC and leccy windows.

Would a new age WRX fit straight in without too much fuss?

I did get a new age STI into my previous, but remember it was a bit of a bugger, having to trim the filler neck to the left, and getting the ally welding done as it was same IC as the above is now.

riiidaa 27-02-2012 04:45 PM

Previous owner probably just fancied an STi enblazened one...

Dave 27-02-2012 05:02 PM

Maybe but he didn't seem to be that kind of person. It's only done 800 miles since it's MOT in Feb 2011.

Quite possibly whoever had it before him.

If you need one I'm sure I still have it.

Dave 28-02-2012 08:07 AM

That would be cool, if not there are a few on ebay that aren't too much.

What did you want for it? If you still have it.

kartingsteve 28-02-2012 09:17 AM

Found it and £25 its yours and it is in very good nick plus I have a Turbosmart Recirculating Dump Valve for £90 if you need one.

Dave 28-02-2012 10:42 AM

That is great, will take both off your hands.

Going to a meet soon? Can pay and collect from you then. Must be a March meet being sorted fairly soon.

kartingsteve 28-02-2012 11:27 AM

Not sure if I will be at the next meet but I'm sure I can get there with some one.

PM me with your details.

Newage STi one fit's with a trim here and there (see my DIY thread). No welding required if you obtain the OE re-circ DV.
