Clutch compatibility question

Hi All
Does anyone know for sure if a clutch from a 22B will fit into a Ver5 classic

C. J. 09-01-2012 10:20 AM

Both 5 speed so yes

thepieman 09-01-2012 11:20 AM

Is the flywheel on the 22B not smaller?

ajf 09-01-2012 02:46 PM

Flywheels are the same
Just remember a 22b clutch is twin plate

Crowman 09-01-2012 02:49 PM

Mmm this is interesting. The clutch that i may be able to use is from a 22B and is twin plate, but one plate has had the edge trimmed. as if to fit a smaller flywheel
Its only done a few hundred miles.
Would be great if it fits mine, but ned to be sure.

If its the ap one from a uk car give ap a call where very helpful when mine need to be repair even got it done under warranty
If its the clutch from a jap spec car be warned they are know not to last more than 20k

the AP inner plate is "matched" as std to suit a std Subaru flywheel.....................

AP RACING CP6082-6GRY - Twin Plate Organic Driven Plates
Diameter mm 215
Torque Capacity Nm (lbsft) 480 (350)
Year 1999 - 2001

So do you think this will be a straight fit for Martyn's?

C. J. 09-01-2012 08:26 PM

A stage 1 exceedy takes more than that and will cost you less than £200 :)

thepieman 09-01-2012 08:55 PM

The original 22B exedy twin plate was on or off though and not really suitable for daily driving:nono: thats part of the reason for AP developing the CP6082-6GRY combined with the taller final drive in the UK22B's.......

Martyn only needs to find out if it will fit his because he needs a clutch and I have this as a spare  at a cost of 'nothing' its even cheaper than the stage 1 exedy:doubleup:

Too right mate, and very much apreciated, now that's what mates are for .
Fingers crossed it will fit.

Going to give Jaffa a call, but I know he is just off or already gone to Mauritius , lucky bugger

not sure what you class as a "stage 1" but a pukka "pink box organic" uprated Exedy kit is more than £200...............

asperformance 10-01-2012 07:36 PM

and yes i believe the 22b clutch should fit no problem...........

thepieman 10-01-2012 07:52 PM

Thanks Alyn, I think Martyns going to sort something with Tone and hopefully it will be a simple fit job, if not, I do know where I can get hold of an original 22B flywheel if its required:ok:

thepieman 31-01-2012 09:26 AM

Just a quick update...........

22b clutch does not fit:nono: Tone's got it apart at the moment, Martyns now trying to source a quick delivered replacement:sos:

C. J. 31-01-2012 02:34 PM

whats the reason for that , Splin ,clutch fork ,slave cylinder ?

Crowman 31-01-2012 03:11 PM

Doesn't match flywheel , would be ok with flywheel also

C. J. 31-01-2012 03:19 PM

When you said twin plate thought you ment the flywheel as well !
If you had said it was just the clutch plates and pressure plate I would of said no !

Only what I know from text message (so third hand) but clutch is smaller.....

C. J. 31-01-2012 03:53 PM

Would expect the plates to be smaller as there's two of them , and the low tourque rating of the clutch . Think it will turn out better not putting it in any way . Other than the pockets of the Crowman . Silver liners & that it will give him space for some more methane ! ;)

thepieman 31-01-2012 03:59 PM

It is a shame as it would have helped him out a little, being a freebie:five:

He's ordered some new parts, from Alyn ASPerformance IIRC and hopefully Tone will be fitting before he goes off sunning himself......
