Aiming for around 1000 which will max current injectors. Unless I get chance to change them first. Have had 600 on a couple of cars running one of these.

Nige 22-10-2012 05:28 PM

What sort of torque will it end up with if you get the 1000bhp  will the gearbox cope? :ninja:

Jolly Green Monster 22-10-2012 06:11 PM

I will restrict the torque so as not to lift the heads etc.

The sequential dog box arrives later this week so hopefully that wont break

Jolly Green Monster 02-11-2012 07:58 PM

Gearbox repaired and ready to install again.
Thanks to Stew @ TFS racing for collecting it today

I have been manic with work so not had chance to do anything on the car myself.

In the mean time Stew and Ian have done a fair bit. The clutch hub for the carnetic clutch I use I bought a replacement to match the new larger input shaft on the new box. Unfortunatly because the input shaft is machined to mount to an impreza flywheel but isnt an impreza diameter we have a minor issue with the clutch hub.
Have a solution but only 80% happy with it. Talking with carbonetic about them possibly making a one off for it, either that or I have to change to a different make of clutch but the current one has been very good and so when something works I try not to change. This is delaying box fitment.

In the meantime another gearbox has been fitted to ensure the engine is in the correct position and Stew has cracked on with making the new manifolds for the new turbos :)

Looks like Santa has come early this year!!

do you think it will be back running again soon or with the new turbos before the sequential box is in?

Jolly Green Monster 14-11-2012 11:34 PM

No gearbox to run it on other than sequential :)

Steve_PPP 15-11-2012 08:42 AM

Those turbos look very cool :ok:

I assume you have arch liners to refit to stop crap getting in the engine bay, does the turbo pipework get in the way?

Narrrr add weight that would

Jolly Green Monster 15-11-2012 08:23 PM

Stews been working like crazy :)

Wastegates now on and manifolds complete.

Downpipes and turbo plumbing and filters left to do :)

Simon

SpecB 16-11-2012 06:44 AM

Are the filters going to come through the light housings?

Jolly Green Monster 16-11-2012 12:21 PM

Few options on filters but not decided fully yet

Jolly Green Monster 16-11-2012 06:29 PM

Stews worked another blinder.

Turbos mounted and wastegates and downpipes

More to do as always :)

Fine mesh maybe ??? :drive:

Jolly Green Monster 17-11-2012 12:23 PM

One of the options and probably ;)

SpecB 17-11-2012 01:35 PM

Not much room for a std shape cone, possibly a mushroom filter? Or sod it and run them open!

Jolly Green Monster 17-11-2012 01:37 PM

this might give a clue for another option

I can see a set of these poking out of there!

Sorry, no K&N parts meet your search parameters.

SpecB 18-11-2012 07:42 AM

Not big enough?

Jolly Green Monster 18-11-2012 09:28 AM

Turbo inlets are 102mm

asperformance 18-11-2012 11:42 AM

we have a main account with K&N if its of use Simon.................can access their tech support if required as they often have listings that dont come up with a general search

Jolly Green Monster 18-11-2012 12:08 PM

Thanks Alyn.

Have ordered some fine mesh to get it running, will measure up :)

Jolly Green Monster 20-11-2012 05:23 PM

Woke up with full on man flu this morning. So the paperwork I was intending doing got ignored and I removed boot lid, hinges, lock etc and fitted the v light fibreglass boot I forgot I bought years ago with bonnet pins.
Needs painting etc
Saved a fair bit of weight so need 1 less bhp now :)

Stews done a cracking job of mounting turbos, only exhaust wrap and oil and water to go

I've been following closely on KentScoobies 22b and here, great thread and progress as always, Simon.

Jolly Green Monster 20-11-2012 10:28 PM

well they do deffo sound nice.

I dont think normally aspirated it will do much over 300bhp..

I cant remember what my was but we did do a run at 0boost and it was fairly impressive but I have fairly wild cams.

you wouldnt want the expense really I assume of a standalone ecu unless you went for the cheaper options like mega skirt etc.. which arent very nice.

I would be inclined to install the original ecu and loom just shortenned and stripped of unneeded items?

B33fy 20-11-2012 10:56 PM

Thanks Simon appreciated, you responded very quickly whilst I moved my query to my original thread, thanks again. There is a blue race impreza which is NA using solid lifters from a BMW?? I guess to raise the rev limit. have you heard of this conversion at all. The other option I was considering was the light pressure turbo option 5 psi or there abouts. What needs to be done to the standard internals for this route? What can the standard internals cope with?

Jolly Green Monster 20-11-2012 11:08 PM

I have converted or more accurately steve at smg converted my heads to solid lifters from another impreza engine.

I know the car you mean.

I would assume the standard internals would take that. The cams are very lame but could be reground to slightly increase lift and duration which would help

B33fy 21-11-2012 09:11 PM

Thanks Simon, loads of other questions but not my thread, perhaps our paths will cross at some point and you'll let me bend your ear a little.

All the best,

Mike.

Jolly Green Monster 21-11-2012 09:14 PM

No problem :)

Sounds interesting

Great read as always, love your solution for `Man Flu`:five:

Now that really is class. :yeah:

Steve_PPP 27-11-2012 10:08 PM

That looks quality :D I guess you won't be running the car in the wet though, don't want the turbos to ingest water?

Looks great though, being able to see the turbine through the headlamps is the nuts lol

Jolly Green Monster 27-11-2012 10:13 PM

I have a few different filter ideas, a couple of which address the water issue... I want to test them out to see if there is a gain having it ramair through the headlight or not.

Jolly Green Monster 04-12-2012 05:47 PM
