How will this fit, any pics etc. as I have been trying to work out how I'll mount it.

SpecB 17-05-2011 06:51 AM

As it looks now.

Finally got to o a few minor bits on mine.
Removed the towbar ready for Gonza and bypassed the charcoal canister (as I no longer have a bracket for it).

Anybody see an issue with this?

My line to the manifold if no longer connected and I have no purge solenoid anymore already, what I've now done is Tee'd the two larger pipes in the image above together and removed the canister.

Couple of changes missed off this thread:
Thanks to Anger now with a MD321x fitted with 76mm intake and a touch more JGM magic:

Not the most recent pic!

SpecB 16-02-2013 03:20 PM

Just spent a couple of hours on this....
http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps2eddf330.jpg
Ive finished the other pipes, so just a few more wires to add, plus try to wrap the collector but otherwise done!

bonner 17-02-2013 10:21 AM

are these the equals?? also just got me a set of the zunsport mesh ideally looking to paint black are they easy to fit?

SpecB 17-02-2013 10:45 AM

Unequal length GT IIs with a 'Harvey' up-pipe, the mesh is really easy to fit, I use smoothite paint on mine as its more chip resistant.

bonner 17-02-2013 10:53 AM

good stuff !! did you notice any difference in sound and power? would like to go down that route ideally before a summer map! the mesh looks 100% better in black as you say the chrome looks to mr t! altho from seeing munks it does look good on certain colours! are you going for a run on wednesday or for mapping?

SpecB 17-02-2013 11:11 AM

Headers are not on the car yet, they go on on Tuesday then it's the slow off boost crawl to SRR on Weds for a map.

bonner 17-02-2013 12:28 PM

will be interesting to see what they produce!! might stick around and see how you get on if not too late?

SpecB 17-02-2013 05:18 PM

Just finished changing the plugs and finally fitted my master cylinder stopper (only been sat in the garage for 4years!) need to fit the knock sensor/KS3 tomorrow as I didn't have bolt long enough to piggy back onto the OE sensor and couldn't find an appropriate alternative location.

Working on the car again makes me think I really need to take it off the road for a bit soon and tidy up the engine bay, too many changes have been made without considering the overall impact!

Think Ill relocate the battery to the boot and reroute the fuel lines under the bonnet fitting a swirl pot in the space the battery used to inhabit. Also stating to seriously consider the A/C removal as the car is to used that often on longer journeys.

SpecB 18-02-2013 04:56 PM

Ks3 now fitted, stereo looks a bit out of place now!

http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/o...pse8e20188.jpg

Anybody spot the other change?

Steve_PPP 18-02-2013 05:21 PM

Red hazard switch ;)

Need some vpower too!

Put the swirl pot in the boot , will have a larger crumple zone in an accident and your welcome to the box I made for mine to protect it for a small price to cover some of the materials used .

Good spot, as for V-Power I Always seem to need it these days (although I mostly use momentum now)!

Might take you up on that but now for the sad admission, I need to be able to get a couple of sets of golf clubs in the boot still!

C. J. 18-02-2013 05:40 PM

Wouldn't think that would be an issue

SpecB 01-03-2013 06:55 AM

Headers and Up-Pipe were fitted for me by PTS in Clymping, normally a nissan guy but he made an exception for me! couple of issues in fitting with the oil cooler hoses needing tempory re-routing due to the original gap now being full of header! the current run is not as I would like as its under the crash bar but they are tied up high enough to be safe for a while and Ill re-run them later on.

Back to SRR on the 20th Feb for the remap on the new headers and up-pipe, with reasonable results, boost comes in slightly later (100rpm or so) and power is only up by 2! However now running 1.5 not 1.6 bar so there's a bit more in there, mapping was stopped due to clutch slip so next up is a replacement clutch!

SpecB 15-03-2013 01:06 PM

Unfortunately I can't get hold of the ACT clutch I wanted in time for Goodwood (and possibly the ring) so thought I'd give this a try!
http://www.competitionclutch.co.uk/i...ng-380-380.jpg

Should do the job with the lightened Fly!

SamSTI 15-03-2013 01:19 PM

What stage is that mate?? I've got the stage 2 competition clutch in mine!! Been very happy with the results.

SpecB 15-03-2013 01:57 PM

Stage 5, good for up to 550lb/ft so should hold mine

C. J. 15-03-2013 02:38 PM

I got my replacement clutch from act in 5 days

SpecB 15-03-2013 06:32 PM

Everybody I've spoken to in the UK has them on back order with ACT in the states, I contacted them directly and had no response so went for the Competition Clutch instead, will be delivered Tuesday with a lightened flywheel. Good price too and really good service so far over the phone from Andy & Mick.
So next up is fitting, fancy a trip to the coast C.J?

SpecB 20-03-2013 06:05 PM

Nice

Hongkongfooi 20-03-2013 08:18 PM

Did you need to get a paddle clutch? I have organic ap and more power? Hope it's not too jerky. I'd be interested in how you find a lightened flywheel though

SpecB 21-03-2013 06:36 AM

The organic AP is now only rated to 339 lb/ft that's what I have on mine and it was slipping badly on the rollers, it's the torque that's the issue not the power, mine has around 430lb/ft at 4000rpm.
My clutch is still fine on the road but don't want to end up in the middle of Germany with no drive (again).

bonner 21-03-2013 09:27 PM

loving the black dash trim did you paint it?

SpecB 22-03-2013 06:16 AM

Mines painted satin black, I'm going to try plasticote soon as it looks even better.

bonner 22-03-2013 01:10 PM

looks 100 times better in black!! might have a bash myself if i can take the vents out without braking them!

It all comes out pretty easily. I've got a spare set of these bits which i got off Bluebugeye last year sometime - painted them a different colour but not got round to fitting them yet.

just been looking into the plastidip thats some crazy stuff!! a fella on yt painted his white s4 black in about 4 hours job done and on the drive! if they do white i might do mine lol

chrisp 23-03-2013 08:40 AM

Interested to see how you get on with that, I've got the 6 paddle one and its a bit of a bitch in traffic, seems to handle the power well enough though

SpecB 07-04-2013 07:18 AM

No problems on the drive home or edging the car into the garage - pedal feel is lighter than the AP but the clutch is a bit grabby/juddery when pulling off as you'd expect from a paddle.

The flywheel is not that much lighter than my old one as it turns out that was a lightened API version anyway!
