Thanks for the advice Shane, with my luck with car mechanics I think I'll leave it for the experts.

I'm also beginning to think that the clutch is begining to slip :???:

The way I have the servicing phased ,the blob is 6 month's before the wagon but with no trip this year and no miles on the blob since Germany last year I might be forced to rethink .

Well for anyone that thinks their Power Steering pump is on its way out can I suggest the first thing you do is a fluid change, just spent half an hour and £5 on a litre of Dexron III and now no more whiny power steering pump. What came out was black, what went in was red!!! Have a spare litre if anyone needs any.

Scott.T 04-03-2017 05:45 PM

Could be a job worth doing considering its age.
Did you cyphon out ?

Red Baron 04-03-2017 06:19 PM

Yep, big syringe and a bit of hose, top up, steering lock to lock a few times, siphon out, top up, repeat until the fluid that was coming out was much the same as what was going in.

Red Baron 13-03-2017 05:17 PM

Finally fitted my fire extinguisher today, only one splinter in my finger, maybe a bit of ally would have been easier but had this lying around so seemed rude not to use it

Looks good.
I assumed you had the day off when I spotted the scoob out front today.

Red Baron 14-03-2017 08:34 AM

Just need to trim a bit more off the end with the Dremel to clear the raised bit on the seat mounting but was running out of time and had to get the seats back in.

Bolesroor 14-03-2017 11:30 AM

Nice one

Red Baron 21-07-2017 05:10 PM

Got something new in the post today, you'll never guess what it is:

Were you right, it was a tricky one?

I'm glad you posted an after pic, for a moment I feared I would never know what it was.

Bolesroor 21-07-2017 05:29 PM

Could you post up some more pictures please :-)

What's the make Shane ?

Red Baron 21-07-2017 05:53 PM

It's a TSL Group N Steve, bit louder than the Prodrive but not quite as unsociable as the Cobra, it's the slightly later version of what Scott has. Will whack it on tomorrow.

Lucky 21-07-2017 08:59 PM

Awesome exhaust.one of the best sounds i think. :drive:

Bolesroor 22-07-2017 10:06 AM

TSL is on the wagon, nice sound imo

Red Baron 22-07-2017 11:51 AM

There's not much difference in size between the TSL and the Prodrive.

Lucky 22-07-2017 03:59 PM

OUCH!

Looks good though and I should think it now sounds nice and deep.

Red Baron 22-07-2017 04:30 PM

My boy asked what would happen if I started it with no back box on, obviously I needed to demonstrate :-D Not sure the neighbours appreciated it as much as he did.

Steve_PPP 22-07-2017 05:11 PM

Bet that hurt!

Backbox looks good, I had one of these a few years ago too. Great quality... in fact i think it ended up on Lucky's black blob??

Red Baron 22-07-2017 05:30 PM

It didn't actually hurt, I didn't realise it was bleeding till Tom asked me why there was blood on the floor, looked a lot worse than it actually was as it had run from one side of my head to the other and down the side of my face.

Red Baron 27-07-2017 07:58 AM

Following a cheeky bid on ebay I've found myself in need of my polishing kit again

Bit more work tonight and should be ready to fit.

Red Baron 05-11-2017 12:21 PM

Think the ride is about to get a little less comfortable.

Complete set of Original STI 5 suspension delivered for less than one replacement KYB. Quick coat of paint to freshen them up and should lose some of that space between the wheel and arch.

scotty 05-11-2017 04:37 PM

Nice bargain if you ask me had them on my Terzo they wernt to bad .

Scott.T 05-11-2017 05:32 PM

I feel my driveway being borrowed in the not to distant future.

How much fluid did you get through to do the job? My PS pump just started making horrible noises after loosening off the banjo next to the turbo inlet pipe which we've swapped. Doesn't want to bleed the air out just by going lock to lock but I can't remember the PS fluid being changed...

I'm guessing its Dexron III ATF fluid that's needed, like this?

Cheers :)

Red Baron 06-11-2017 03:50 PM

A litre of that will do it Steve, I bought 2 bottles of the same and never opened the second.

Steve_PPP 06-11-2017 08:16 PM

Nice one, thanks Shane. Looks an easy enough job :)

Red Baron 06-11-2017 08:40 PM

If I was local I'd drop it all round but it would cost more to get it to you than you could order it for. Try not to remove too much at a time, it does cause the pump to make nasty noises.

Steve_PPP 07-11-2017 08:14 AM

Heh, no worries. Like you say, at under a tenner a litre its not exactly expensive stuff :)

Red Baron 16-12-2017 12:40 PM

Gratuitous post clean in early morning sunshine shot

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4559/...259725ee_c.jpg

Probably started a little too early as the water froze on the car.

Lucky 17-12-2017 10:39 AM

Looking good. I’ve just done mine and had the same. Looked around me and everywhere was white!!

Red Baron 17-12-2017 10:51 AM

Had to start mine with the heaters on full to melt the ice on the bonnet and roof so I could dry it.

Scott.T 17-12-2017 03:34 PM

Cleaned mine yesterday after a 200 mile tour of Kent Surrey and Sussex trying to find a k1 replacement.
Left the wheels till this morning but decided on a warm bucket of water for wheels 2, 3 & 4 !!!

Red Baron 11-02-2018 04:11 PM

Finally had a quick play with the DA polished, medium pad and compound on the rear spoiler which has always been covered in really bad swirl marks, relatively happy, will attack the whole car when I have time.

Good job Shane looking forward to using mine when weather is better .

Red Baron 24-02-2018 07:48 PM

Just fixed a load of the picture links by moving stuff to Flikr (yes I was bored) and noticed that not all of the links to photobucket are broken, will keep an eye on them as have moved everything over now. Can everyone else see the photos on Page 2 of this thread?

Banstead Stig 24-02-2018 07:57 PM

I can't.

Anger 24-02-2018 08:18 PM

Yeah can see them

Red Baron 24-02-2018 08:47 PM

Think they were cached on the laptop as they wouldn't load on my phone, should all be fixed now other than those that are in quoted text.

Don't think it looks too bad seeing as it will be 20 years old next year.
