Mines never being driven in the snow again unless I can sort the ridiculous ABS out!

Did about 40 miles on untreated A/B roads today in the scoob, very impressed with the Vredestein Sessantas in the snow considering they're a summer performance tyre! Think the big diagonal tread block right across the centre of the tyre helps, ABS was a lot less intrusive than last time we had snow and ice. |
Well I opened the garage door and showed it's bottom to the snow, does that count.

Still think I will invest in winter tyres for next year though. My Vreds were notably worse for being a year old, which makes sense, but all the same tyres are the key in this weather! |
Out & about in Hastings tonight & it's getting a little dodgy. Even the Amb is sliding about. Temps are dropping - 2 at the mo.
|
Yeah, expect the roads will be worse tomorrow than today as all the slush and compacted snow will freeze overnight :(
|
Anyone have theres sideways?? its all goin to kick off again sunday
|
took my mitsi out for a play last nite.i was well impressed with it. :10: for grip.

Wish I had the balls to try something like this.....It wouldn't take much to go wrong though, to wrap it around one of those tree's

I tried one drift this afternoon round a corner like that - although i wussed out of the throttle half way round
Only stopped sliding when the back wheel hit a snow bank  (a soft one, no damage to wheel luckily!) edit/ having watched the whole vid, i was doing way less than half the speed of that chap, he's got some good winter tyres on there at a guess. Nice skill tho :ok: |
Went out in the Evo, was so different to drive than a Subaru

Not sure, I learnt to control the Scoob with a drift, the Evo's ACD steps in to help and throws me but does slide well in snow mode

Couple of mine on our drive

Nice Vid. In a controlled environment, and in an appropriate time and place - I think is great fun to play about. I'm no driving god, but as a result of playing about in car parks or dead back roads, Its giving me the confidence and ability to be able to throw my car around, 4wheel drift, and keep control of the car. Which has subsequently helped me out of trouble once before and may well help again sometime in my life.
Appreciate its not quite the same, but its a bit cheaper than taking an advanced driving course. Usual disclaimer - I accept no responsibility if you put you car into a tree or wall as a result of playing ;) |
Crappy phone pics - sitting on 16" with winter tyres

Do you work in Crawley, saw a scoob just like yours on the A23 this morning heading to Horley.
|
Fantastic some of you are using & not just polishing your Scoobs (yes another dig at polish bunny's) Fugly isn't to cleaver in the slippery stuff due to 245's & summer tyres. However it manages to get around hilly Hastings at 6am ok ish. Getting back up the hills see's it more sideways than straight. It gets some strange looks as 4 wheels are trying to find grip on a hatchback. :drive:
