Glad it all started & sounded good mate. Hmmm i wonder if i could do a t belt.

Crowman 17-03-2009 09:18 PM

Re: FMIC Works in progress

Doing belt for 1st time is just one of those things, you certainly learn after you keep putting the belt on and off.
I kept getting one pulley just one bloomin tooth out, very frustrating.
The trick is to gently hold the belt on one pulley with a clamp then work away from that pulley.
You aslo need a good wide vice to squeeze the tensioner back up.
Toughest bit was getting the bloomin crank pulley off to get access to the oil seal.
Just seemed silly not to do water pump, thermostat and oil seal whilst it was appart.
The belt i took off was nearly 7 years old but looked perfect, mind you had only done about 30k if that.

I think the bumper should match ok,once i finished cutting the whole car i will stick pics up.
The side skirts match well.

A bit of an update.

New headers wrapped and ready to fit,3rd set i have done over the last 2 years. And at last i am happy with these.

http://i376.photobucket.com/albums/o...1042009458.jpg

New headers fitted.

http://i376.photobucket.com/albums/o...1042009460.jpg

Time to give the scoob a well needed drink

http://i376.photobucket.com/albums/o...1042009459.jpg

All back together and fired up.

http://i376.photobucket.com/albums/o...1042009461.jpg

http://i376.photobucket.com/albums/o...1042009462.jpg

http://i376.photobucket.com/albums/o...1042009463.jpg

I took it up the road and back, not too happy with the lag, goes like a rocket but takes longer to get on boost.
I thought a pipe had shot off at 1st but it was new dump valve - So bloomin loud.

THere is light at the end of the tunnel, Just panels to put on now.

Spent another few hours putting scoob back together.
Just front splitter to go on, needed super glue to keep the rubber trim in place, spent over a grand since off the road and a tube of super glue stops me from finishing. lol

Re: FMIC Works in progress

Thanks mate.

I am well pleased with it, Mind you it did take me 4 months
The finish is just how i wanted it, just the splitter to finish it.
I will not be rushing to do another FMIC though, although its not dificult, its a time consuming job if you want that perfectionist finish, which i did.

Car is also full serviced now, got to do the front pads as noticed today they have about a third left on them, which will soon be eaten up around the ring.

I had tarox once a while back, they were ok, i did manage to warp the discs on a track day.
I would be happy with them on the back, but up front i personally would go for some pagids, bloomin expensive though.

There is a chap by the name of Dynamix he runs his car in totb and still keeps his Brembo's when many others have changed to 6or 8 pots. He is useing Performance friction discs & padds. I have recently fitted just the pads and they are fantastic. Dynamix recons fade free. He also visits the ring a few times per year and again fade free. His car is running over 500bhp . Give them a try mate it's one of the mod's that really work.

Would not worry about the postion as its looks like a smaller than legal plate !
I'd put it in the second postion but a full size one or sticker type

Agree with you guys, on the splitter is better.
C.J yep its fair bit smaller than standard, been on for about 3 years and not got pulled by police, think mainly because its clear font.
Any idea where to get sticker type?

Cheers

I would of thought that any sign writers/print shop could do it, its only a bit of vinyl.
They'll just tap it in print it out and hey presto!
