Problem with booking this is that they need the full amount to book, trying to get that commitment from enough people can be a nightmare, you agree a date, it then takes 2 weeks to get the money through and then you've lost your date and not everyone can agree on a new one. Alternatively you take the risk and book at your own expense and then end up out of pocket as people then pull out before they've paid.

Is the best way to get exclusive?
And is that the only way to get the full track? I am cool with that place or the other two mentioned. |
Fri/Sat/Sun evening are when they run the full 3 floor track at Crawley...
The Unlimited Karting on a Sunday is pretty good, you get a minimum of 5x 10min sessions spread across the evening. We could basically pick a session start time and everyone books their own place at £40 each. |

A few years back I organised a go karting session on Surrey Scoobies. There were 10+ "yeah I will definitely be up for it". On the day 3 people turned up. If I'd had paid for those 7 no-shows I wouldn't have been a happy chap. |
I'm able to do any sunday, and looks like Crawley is the place we are going? Lol. So let's pick a date, book up and then who ever shows shows? Looks like it is the only way we are going to be able to do this, like Red Baron said :)

If we were going to do something like this, I think we'd need to plan it well in advance to try and book a free date with the venue, then take cash up front to cover the booking. If people then drop out, its their loss - the organiser can't be left out of pocket. By setting a date well in advance, hopefully the venue would have time to fill remaining spaces if we went back and said we had less people than we hoped? |

Sounds like a plan, I recon we should get a little convoy up there, and we pay our money for the said date.... Who ever comes up to pay in advanced knows the dealio by then anyway? And they have payed there money :) |
Sun evenings are ideal for me : )))

I'd be up for this at any of the circuits mentioned. Have done a lot at Buckner park and is a brill circuit that then new owners have (are) put a lot of money into improving. Also have done Sittingbourne track and must say is a lovely track.
With regards to organising this from past experience the bestt Jung to do is set a date and venue and do an arrive and drive. Some of the bigger circuits do do arrive and race sessions so that could be a possible option too if you wanted to race instead of just an arrive and drive session. Gareth |
I know I am jumping in late here but I do a lot of work with the Daytona lot at Sandown and I am sure they would be very happy to accommodate the club for a proper race with Qualifying etc. They have much faster 2 stroke karts as an option too. I race them...badly, in the championships and they do about 60mph rather than the indoor 4 stroke stuff you get at Crawley.
Feel free to e mail me and I can ask about dates they have a closed evening or arrive nd drive on. Basically if enough people book from the same place they can turn a normal session into a proper race format. ade@holdermotoring.co.uk |
Best Karting track in the UK has to be GYG Karting in Wales...it's at the start of the evo triangle too.
